1500 - 1400 BC, the Middle East

Egypt continued its expansion into the Holy Land, and by mid-century had established firm control over the entire area.

Cretan Minoa had begun to decline after 1500 and the tremendous explosion of Thera, a volcano in the Greek islands, may have hastened its end in a devastation by earthquake, tidal waves and ashfalls. The Mycenaean Greeks, the half-legendary heroes of Homer, ruled Minoa during its final period.

Far to the east, Babylon began to re-assert itself toward the end fo the century, this time under Kasserite control.
