The Story of Sam, Part II

Posted on June 24th

OK, the next Sunday, I am down in the dungeon working on the computer. I suddenly hear Edelweiss and the pugs (Aunt Judi's dogs) barking up a storm. I go to investigate, and see the neighbor's truck in the front yard with a woman calling for Frosty (Sam's original name). In addition, she had her two collies in the back of the pickup truck. I am distraught over having lost the dog, and must now go see what has happened. The lady said that Frosty had gotten loose again, and had headed off in our direction.

I quickly went to get my coat and Edelweiss, and the two of us went looking for Sam/Frosty. As we were looking in the back yard, we saw that the woman had stopped the truck and was calling for Frosty. After a few minutes, we saw him running in her direction. I headed off toward her truck to see if everything was OK. When Sam got to her truck, to my surprise, he kept going! I was in emotional turmoil over the whole situation, but did my best to try to talk to her. About this time, Sam and Eidie got together and the two of them headed up towards toe house. After talking with the neighbor for a few moments, I suddenly realized that Sam and Eidie were no longer in sight. Realizing that both of them were "intact," I suddenly dashed across the field to see where they were.

Meanwhile, Kathy had been watching all of this from the window. As the two dogs came trotting up to the house, Kathy simply opened the garage door, and both dogs pranced inside.

I was still very upset by all of this, so Kathy went to talk with the neighbor. To my surprise, our neighbor left without Sam! Apparently, they were not very happy with Sam/Frosty. He had run off several times before, was older than they had been lead to believe, and in general, they were not happy with him. In the end, she said that we could keep him! Kathy thanked her over and over, and all appears well at this point.

And that is the complete story of Sam.
